At Southampton Counselling, we aim to help those who are:
- unhappy, anxious or depressed
- dissatisfied with the quality of their relationships
- feeling tense and insecure
- puzzled about why they react as they do to events or to people
- feeling aimless about life
- having difficulty with their close family members
- wanting to relate more easily to others
- feeling empty or isolated
- needing to talk over painful recent or past events in order to lay them to rest.
How may counselling help?
It provides an opportunity for exploring some thoughts and feelings about both inner and outer life. New understandings about the links between the present and the past often lead to change. Talking things over with a trained counsellor may help to free a situation which has become stuck, and to dissolve some of the misery of trying to sort things out on your own. Through counselling people often gain a new zest for life and changes for the better in their personal relationships.
Introductory Session
Initially, you will meet a counsellor who will talk over with you the problems you are experiencing, what kind of help you are seeking and whether ours is the most suitable counselling service for you. Both individual and group counselling are available here. If there is mutual agreement to go ahead, we book your first weekly counselling appointment on a day and time when you can come regularly. Arranging this may take a little while, depending upon the availability of an appropriate counsellor and the weekly time you can set aside for appointments.
